HIPAA Training in Preparation for Summer Health Institute
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) protects patient health information. It is necessary that each participant in the Summer Health Institute view this program. Part of the Summer Health Institute program is a job shadowing that may expose participants to patient information. This training helps prepare participants how to protect this information.
To take the HIPAA training please follow these steps:
- Create a folder in your My Documents called HIPPA.
- Download the on-line presentation and save it to the HIPAA folder you just created.
- Open the Zip file (hippa.zip) and save the files into the HIPAA folder. To open the zip file you can right click on it and select Open With...Compressed Folders (or Win Zip)
- Double click on the file called hipaa.exe.
- Go through the tutorial entering your name and giving yourself a password.
- Take the HIPAA quiz. Download the HIPAA quiz or find it in the HIPAA folder you created above.
